In short: November is one of the best months to visit Morocco, especially the Atlantic coast. Around Agadir and Taghazout, afternoons are usually 23 to 25 °C with plenty of sunshine, the sea is still around 19 to 20 °C and rain is rare. Marrakech is pleasant by day but cool at night. For surfers, November is the start of the main season: the first big north-west swells arrive, yet the line-ups are quieter than in December and January.

  • Agadir and Taghazout: about 23–25 °C by day, 13–15 °C at night
  • Sea temperature: around 19–20 °C
  • Sunshine: about 8 hours a day
  • Rain: usually only a few wet days in the month
  • Marrakech: about 21–23 °C by day, close to 10 °C at night
  • Wetsuit: 3/2 mm, or a 4/3 mm for long sessions at the end of the month

Is November a good time to visit Morocco?

Yes. The summer heat has gone, the winter rush has not started, and the light is soft and golden. Flights and rooms are usually cheaper than over Christmas, and the beaches and medinas are calmer. It is a good month for a beach break, a city trip to Marrakech or a road trip along the coast.

  • Warm, sunny afternoons on the Atlantic coast
  • Sea still warm enough for long swims and surf sessions
  • Fewer visitors than in December, February and at Easter
  • Good prices on flights and accommodation outside half-term week

Weather in November, region by region

The Atlantic coast (Agadir, Taghazout, Tamraght, Imsouane) is the warmest and most reliable part of the country in November. Days are mostly sunny and dry, with a light breeze. Evenings cool down quickly once the sun has set, so bring a jumper.

Marrakech has warm, bright days but cold nights, sometimes under 10 °C. Essaouira is cooler and windier than Agadir. The Atlas Mountains get colder every week, and the first snow can fall on the high peaks late in the month.

Surfing in November

November is when Moroccan surfing really comes alive. The North Atlantic storms start sending regular north-west swells, the famous right-hand points north of Taghazout begin to break, and the morning winds are often light and offshore. The water is the warmest it will be all winter, so you can still surf for hours in a 3/2 mm wetsuit.

  • Beginners: still a good month on the sheltered beaches of Tamraght and Aourir; a camp will pick the right beach each day.
  • Intermediates: one of the best months, with the first point-break days and fewer people in the water.
  • Experienced surfers: the points start working, with smaller crowds than in mid-winter.

Is it warm enough to swim?

For most people, yes. At around 19 to 20 °C, the Atlantic feels fresh at first but comfortable after a few minutes, especially on a sunny afternoon. It is cooler than the Mediterranean in summer, but much warmer than the sea around the UK at the same time of year.

What to pack for Morocco in November

  • Light clothes and swimwear for the day
  • A warm jumper or fleece and a light jacket for the evenings
  • Sunscreen (SPF 50), sunglasses and a hat: the sun is still strong
  • Trousers or a long skirt and covered shoulders for medinas and towns
  • A 3/2 mm wetsuit if you have one (otherwise surf camps provide them)

Where to stay

For sunshine and surf, base yourself on the coast north of Agadir. Taghazout is lively and close to the point breaks, Tamraght is quieter and ideal for beginners, and Imsouane suits longboarders.
